Steam and Water Analysis System Questions

Maintenance Questions

  • Magnetite does more than just blocking the sample flow. Black iron reduces the accuracy of data collections and also reflects light. The reflection messes up photometry/light measurements collected as well as other data analytics. To get accurate data, ensure your system thoroughly filters out magnetite.

Our Physical Low-Pressure Filter, Sample Debris Strainer, Analyzer Magnetic Trap, and High-Pressure Magnetic Trap all filter black iron out of the sample stream.

  • Red iron/hematite can block the sample flow, as well as reduce the accuracy of data collected.

Our Physical Low-Pressure Filter and Sample Debris Strainer both filter out red iron/hematite to allow the sample accurate readings.

  • The Analyzer Magnet Trap is a dry well that sucks the magnetite to the dry well. To clean, merely flip a three-way valve to flush and pull the magnet out. The entrained magnetite will be flushed out. This is a low pressure device that is meant to keep magnetite out of silica or other light based measurement analyzers. Rated to 200 psi.

  • The High-Pressure Magnet Trap catches magnetite to the drywell. Remove the magnet and pull the lever to flush demin water through the trap to clean it out. This one is rated to 5000 psi and is meant to protect the variable capillary valve after primary cooling.

  • The best filter to replace depends on the location in the system. The Sample Debris Strainer (FG00-0013) and High Pressure Magnetic Trap (FG00-2010) can handle high pressure, so they work towards the beginning or the middle of the system. The Physical Low Pressure Filter (FG00-0050) and Analyzer Magnetic Trap (FG00-0010) only handle low pressure, so they are better towards the end before the analyzers.

  • Sample Cooler 1.0 (SC1.0) has 1.0 square feet heat transfer surface. P/N: FG00-1001

Sample Cooler 2.4 (SC2.4) has 2.4 square feet heat transfer surface. P/N:FG00-0001

Sample Cooler 3.5 (SC3.5) has 3.5 square feet heat transfer surface. P/N:FG00-0002

Sample Cooler 4.7 (SC4.7) has 4.7 square feet heat transfer surface. P/N:FG00-2001
